I'll email him and see if he has one. thanks! ________________________________ From: sammie smith <bugcollections@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, January 22, 2012 7:17 PM Subject: [tcb] Re: Reserve gas tank lever info needed James: James King in Houston had one of those levers advertised on the Samba a few weeks ago. I looked through his ads real quick on the Samba and don't see it now, but you might e-mail him and see if he still has it. Just do a search on bus parts for Texas and you will see a bunch of his ads listed under seller James K. Houston or Conroe. Also, you might try Peter Albarian who has a bunch of early bus parts he has been selling on the Samba. Listed again under bus parts/Texas seller Pcalbar in San Antonio. When I restored my panel I fabricated one by just looking at some pictures in the bus manual (I think). Not difficult to do. I then found one on a 59 in a salvage yard and spent about 1/2 hour in the dirt under the bus taking it off. I still have the one that I fabricated, but finding it would be another matter. I really don't even know where to look. ________________________________ From: James Dwan <james_dwan_2000@xxxxxxxxx> To: "tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx" <tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sun, January 22, 2012 6:54:19 PM Subject: [tcb] Reserve gas tank lever info needed My Bus is missing the metal that goes onto the fuel tap that is secured by a cotter pin and has a hole in the end for the cable from the knob under the front seat. I managed to remove the broken cable from the tube but the piece was missing when I bought the Bus. I have a diagram in the VW manual so I think I could have it fabricated but I was wondering if anyone knows if they are being reproduced so I could just buy one. Failing that I would like to borrow one to trace it and see how thick it is. I'd love to have a reserve that is functional before we drive to Nac/Fred. James
