Yep, old SCCA:  Was a member back in the late 50s through the early 70s.  Had
lots of friends racing VEEs and all those other top-of-the line cars back then
that are now all in the vintage races.  Alphas were never one of the favorites
though.  I even remember seeing Carol Shelby racing in 1954 I think and was
driving a Cad Allard.  He beat everyone going away.  I had a friend that worked
for Economy cars in Dallas that raced a 63 VW bug in a 12-hour enduro race at
Green Valey in 1966 and finished like 9th overall because it just kept going
and going as others fell out with various mechanical problems.  The race was
for production cars only and included Mustangs and Corvettes among a lot of
other sports cars of the day.

Damn it's tough to get old.

I think he's pretty good in his class. He's been a member of the Sports Car
Club of America since '86 and racing the same Alpha the whole time. There were
three cars in his bracket that raced with others in the same class. Or is it
vice versa? He finished about middle of the pack, second in his class and he
picked up a few points.

There were a few beautiful cars, porches, camaros and 'stangs that blew engines
that day. There were some nice setups with a lot of bucks involved.

BTW: I didn't think of posting beforehand to see if Ronnie would be home for us
to swing by and see his new bus. :( We thought of ya, though!

He races an Alpha Romeo?  Does he ever finish?
