Well never again.  Got my brain to working on the way home and thought, you
know Nac to Killeen on 7 and I 35 then on over to 281 and on down to Johnson
City and Fredericksburg can't be that much further.  Well it's not.  Got out
the maps and the laptop when I got home and mapquest shows it is only about 20
miles further than going to Bastrop then through Austin on 290, which is the
shortest route.  Only problem was that it took 1 1/2 hours to go the 25 miles
from ABIT (airport) to Bastrop.  There were no accidents, no real construction
delays, it was just too many cars for the road.

And heck, the route through Belton & Killeen is right by Paul's and we could
probably even stop off and spend the night on the way.

Sorry about that.
Mark and I decided to stay off 290 this year.  We ended up going north of
Austin through Round Rock and over to Burnet and then down through Marble Falls
to Johnson City.  Made it with no problems.  Going that way from Huntsville
made good time.  But if we wouldn't have stopped so many times to antique shop,
would have made better time.

Great weekend.  Thanks to Steve, Sharon and all the Chamberlains and the
volunteers who made it possible.

We made it home just before midnight, about an hour and a half behind schedule
thanks to the lovely Austin traffic between Austin airport and Bastrop.  Took
almost 1 1/2 hours to go from the Austin airport to Bastrop in bumper to bumper
stop and go traffic.  For the uninitiated that is about 25 miles in 1 1/2
hours.  Next year we are going to avoid Austin like the plague.

More later after about 10 hours of sleep.  Hope everyone made it home safe and
sound.
