Marc. Salem is not the place to go. Fifty-fifty chance of clouds. You
have to go to E. Oregon, somewhere along a path that is +/- 20 miles of
Madras Oregon. There are no motel rooms-long gone. Buy yourself some #14
welders glass and or buy a pair of solar glasses from the club for $1:00 or
so. As to whether or not there will be a group effort. No decision. For my
part I will be driving from my observatory in Goldendale South to be within
the totality path. We will be completing our annual star party on my
property on the Sunday before the eclipse so I assume most of the attendees
will be traveling south as well. You can google the solar eclipse path in
Oregon and get an idea of another favorable location.

TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE THIS YEAR in OREGON!
I have not been keeping up with the meetings or the e-mails for this group,
I'm afraid, but I won't bother with excuses.
I am interested if there is a group from TAS going down to Oregon for the
total eclipse of the Sun this year:

If so, I'd like the details on that and if not, perhaps we could get a group
together to rent rooms at the same hotel for better rates. This would be
great for those of us who do not have the equipment nor know the proper way
to watch a solar eclipse (welder's glass?) Salem seems like a prime
location to stay.
