Thank you for all the information and help regarding the eclipse, Chuck.
It's my intention to be there but my health (chronic back pain) has been a
limiting factor for over a decade now.
If I can find a way to go with you guys I will. Hopefully, I can at least
show up soon at a meeting to pay my dues.
Has TAS started selling those eye protection options at the meeting?

Marc look at this map of Oregon. There are times for the length of
totality as well. http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/states/OR.htm
As far as equipment. Naked eye might be best with photoprotection. Small
scope with proper front end solar filter maybe. Come to our starparty in
August and drive So. Early in the am of the 21st. Its about a two hour drive
to the path of totality. Chuck j

TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE THIS YEAR in OREGON!
I have not been keeping up with the meetings or the e-mails for this group,
I'm afraid, but I won't bother with excuses.
I am interested if there is a group from TAS going down to Oregon for the
total eclipse of the Sun this year:
https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEgoogle/SEgoogle2001/SE2017Aug21Tgoogle.html
If so, I'd like the details on that and if not, perhaps we could get a group
together to rent rooms at the same hotel for better rates. This would be
great for those of us who do not have the equipment nor know the proper way
to watch a solar eclipse (welder's glass?) Salem seems like a prime
location to stay.
I apologize if this has been covered before, please let me know.
Thanks,
Marc Carter
