Well, I can confirm that the Vodafone store will not charge you for this as talks is provided in their after sales service. If you plan to go down that route, you need to complete a repair form in store and you and your phone will part company for four days. They will install I think version 2.0 of talks and you can use this to cross upgrade to the latest version of premium for £50.

to be honest I've found the best way to learn about Talks is by talking to other users (such as this list or friends who have the software). You hear so many conflicting stories about whether you will be charged if the shop installs Talks or not, amongst other things.

This is true. Even Vodafone customer service knows nothing about the
software despite having a free telephone number (free from the Vodafone
Mobile) that claims to put you through to a special needs team who can
answer all your accessibility questions. This doesn't include talks *grins*
as I found to my cost so be careful.

You can't always guarantee that your service provider knows anything about
Talks, I've known of some Vodafone shops that are very knowledgeable on
the subject and others who are clueless on the subject.

Of course, you could always go in to your mobile phone operators store if
they have one and see the range for yourself. Because there are so many
phones available these days, so long as the phone is compatible with
talks,
its just a matter of personal taste. What's right for most people may not
be necessary the best thing for you.

However, not all of these are compatible with Talks, there should be a
list on www.nuance.com/talks too.

Go to www.Symbian.com and you'll find the list there.

Hi

Does anyone know where I can find an up-to-date list of phones compatible
with Talks? I know there is a list on the Computer room site, but there
have
been no additions to it since I got my 3230 last Summer and as I'm
nearing
time for my upgrade I wanted to know if there were any new phones which
would work with Talks.

Thanks.

Barbara
