Ah, but what processor is it? The AMD K6-2 on the SunPCi card is not as good as an equal clock speed Intel in my experiance. I have a 300mhz card with 128 mb. That may well have made a difference. Yet, the PII 333 in the room can handle XP just fine. Additionally are the driver issues - Sun has stopped working on the drivers for the older cards and, as it is, it takes tweaking to get the card running under Solaris 9.
