Steve, I see the notch filter, but I really don't understand what it does or
how to use it. Any good tutorials out there that you know of? As you can
tell, I'm not an engineer. :)

No, these tones were mixed into the analog recording from a little tone
generator. And this tone generator did a double tone, so I can just delete the
first tone between chapters, but the second one is mixed into the first
sentence of audio. I think Jayson is on the right track with the high pass
filter. I'll let you know.

Hi Sheila. In Sound Forge, I can pick a particular frequency to minus. I wonder
if you can do that in audacity? If you're talking about the tones that Studio
Recorder puts in, I can try to see if I have any luck removing them. If you're
talking about other tones, perhaps you could send me an example.

We are converting our analog talking books to digital. The analog recordings
have tone indexing mixed into the audio. Has anyone found a good way to remove
the low frequency tone without destroying the voice audio? I use Audacity
noise reduction for background tape hiss, but if I change the values of the
noise reduction enough to effect the tone, it really makes the rest of the
audio sound over processed. Any help will be much appreciated.
