You'll have to use the wave view if you want to zoom. Otherwise, its
strictly scrubbing for tight edits.

Judy, If you only want to hear the part you are scrubbing over without
playing the rest of the file, make sure the file is not playing and
then
simply press the left and right arrow keys without the control key.
This will only play the part of the file the cursor is on and nothing
else. So, you can arrow forward, for example until you hear the first
part of a word and then back up by pressing the left arrow. You will
now be just a little bit before the beginning of the word. And, as
rob
said, the scrub length can be adjusted. Also, using the zoom really
helps get the cursor to the exact place you want to be.

You can edit out anything. One sample, one minute, whatever. The scrub
feature is usually what you want. Use Ctrl+Left Arrow to move back and
play a segment, and Ctrl+RightArrow to move forward. You can adjust
the
time moved in the Settings dialog.
If you really want to change the zoom ratio, you can with F9 and F10.
F9 zooms in; F10 zooms out.

Its all in the manual, but we'll try to help.
First of all, you can use the regular Shift-Arrows type of selecting.
I
don't recommend it, but it is there.
The recommended way is to first hit C to clear the selection. Then, go
to the place where you want the selection to start and hit the left
bracket. Finally, go to the place where you want the selection to end
and hit right bracket.
To play the selection, use Shift+Space. To delete the selection, hit
Delete.
The diference from Sound Forge is that we let you move around, even
when there is a selection. So, if you hit play, it will act normally.
To go to the beginning of the selection, its Ctrl+[. To go to the end
of the selection, its Ctrl+]. You can then tune the selection points
by
just moving the caret and hitting the left or right bracket again.d

selection, audition it, and then delete it like you do in soundForge?
How do I take out small portions and tighten the zoom ratio?
