If I understand what she is asking it almost sounds like she wants a little fade of the music, but not complete, and then once the ocean sound comes in have a quick fade to nothing in 2 seconds. I am thinking that is probably going to take two fades. One fade for a longer section that includes the music, followed by a shorter fade that starts at the beginning of the ocean sounds and lasts for two seconds with no sound at the end of the two seconds. My immediate reaction and question to Mary would be to ask what is the total time that there is an ocean sound in the file? Reason for the question being to know whether there is quite a bit more time or not in the original. If there isn't much time it may be difficult to get the music fade to not be rather drastic also. Man, I hope she understands what I am getting at here? So, if you want to have a fade out that takes two seconds and comes at the end of the file, you need to go to the end of the file, back up two seconds with the go to time function, select from there to the end, and then apply the fade. The fade will now start two seconds before the end of the file and the fade out will end just as the file ends. Does this help, or did I not understand your question? For example, my podcast themes have ocean sounds at the end. I would really like to cut the ocean, to about 2 seconds after the end of the theme, and fade them out very quickly. However, when I play with that and do it, and try to fade out, it starts fading too soon, and the theme starts fading out before the ocean sounds start. I guess what I want is to have more control over how long a fade-out is, and exactly when it will happen. Is this asking too much, or is there a technique I haven't figured out yet?
