Phil:

Do you use the Remember Place in Files option? This may not be exactly
what you want, but it will get the job done. Its on the General page of
the Settings dialog.

Hi Rob,
In the first question I am suggesting a hot key that would remember
your 
place in the file, then reload the file and move to that place.

In the second I am only suggesting background loading as an option not
as 
the default setting.
