yes he is very determined and involved with the students with
disabilities at U.O.N
as blind students we face so many hurdles from school fees to lack of
facilities and the biggest of them all; lack of support and
encouragement. but all in all I think we are a strong bunch and most
of us try our best to elevate the expectations of the blind...

We also have our very own at the University of Nairobi. He is studying
medicine!
The gentleman (I'm ashamed I've forgotten his name), has no vision at
all in one eye and very limited vision in the other. He is registered
with the NCPWD as a PWD.
I met him last year and he says he may soon have no vision at all.
Currently he can read some print albeit with some strain.
He has some very intriguing experiences to share; seek him out!

What an inspiring article! Goes to remind us that where there is
adequate support, persons with visual disabilities go places. Here we
are wondering if we can handle a few charts and graphs, yet one of us
is graduating as a medical doctor; and he is not the first: in the
1970s my English teacher, Mrs. Linda Humphreys, read for us an article
about another blind American who had graduated from medical school.
While our constraints here in Kenya are certainly more intimidating,
we must keep the fire burning.
