sHank: Thanks for organizing this weekend's SOGAGG golfing event. Fingers
crossed that the weather cooperates, and that everyone can get out on the
links for a great day of Friendship - Frivolity - Fun!!!
Wondering if this might also be an opportunity to talk about how we all
share the opportunity to organize these wonderful SOGAGG events. Thus far
the practice has been to "ask" the "Low Net" player(s) to take charge of the
next event, although there are certainly events that have been organized by
those who have not been the "Low Net" player - but rather just a regular
participant who wished to contribute. The SOGAGG-North group (headed by our
beloved "Chi Chi") seems to largely use an event organization approach based
upon volunteers. Chi Chi reports that this works very well for them, and I
was wondering if we might consider taking that approach as well.
Based upon the SOGAGG golf events identified in the SOGAGG.ORG website,
here's a breakdown of who has organized our events for the past +3 years:
Ace: 9
KD: 9
Woods: 5 (SLOBBER breakfasts)
Divot: 4
sHank: 4
Sinker: 4
Rules: 2
Scotty: 2
Swamp: 2
Lob: 1
WOXOF: 1
Note: We have approximately 15 SOGAGGers who have not (as of this date)
organized one of our events.
Given a notional plan to have at least one event per month, and given that
historically we have 3 reoccurring annual events, then perhaps we could
transition to an approach that relies upon "sign-ups" to organize a
particular month's event. Thus far, our reoccurring events include:
Jan (MLK Day): "SLOBBER" (Organizers have been: Ace, KD, and Woods)
July: "Mountain High" (Ace organizes this singlehandedly)
Oct: "SOGAGG Initational" (Divot organizes this singlehandedly)
That would leave 9 other months in which folks could sign up to organize an
event. Of course people could team up to co-host an event (as we do with
"SLOBBER").
REQUESTED ACTON: SOGAGGers review this approach. Discuss it among
yourselves. Then let's decide how we wish to proceed.
