Re hand mixing...OMG, it takes forever. I can't live without my dual speed stick blender Mandy, have you tried ITP (in the pot) swirls. Much easier and the results are not too bad (not as nice as the in the mould swirls) Ross -----Original Message----- From: soapcraft-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:soapcraft-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gina Roberts Sent: Thursday, 7 January 2010 12:57 p.m. To: soapcraft@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [soapcraft] Sand in soap Thanks for the lovely introduction Mandy. Yes I have used sand in my soap. Everyyear I go camping with my family at Kai Iwi Lakes and so one year I used the lakes sand. It was nice and scrubby. Not sure about blending it right through though...........i think it can be a little to rough but would be suitable for guys hands........remember solvo soap............that was a sand type soap. I spread a layer of sand on top of the soap. During the warmer months you can get away with a much lighter trace (light custard) and it pays to keep your soap making tempertures at the lower range around 30 ish because soap can set quickly and seize in warm weather. Over winter you can increase temperatures and stir until a little thicker. Are you using a wizz stick........I am all for natural hand blending but its a time issue. Wizz sticking is very quick. Other peoples experience would be great to hear.
