Thanks Dan,

I'll try and write about the results.

One more question. I'm using a ultra portable laptop that was offered to me
by government agency. It's hi-end Toshiba Protégé R500 (Centrino 2 duo 1.2
GHz only). To my understanding, it is rather special machine and may have
some performance and even keyboard configuration issues. On the second
hand, I thought that it should be sufficient for Sibelius... What do you
think?

Vytautas

Hi Vytautas,

It sounds like you're experiencing two different problems.

The first isn't a problem, its just the way you're system works. There's
obviously a difference between your US input language and UK input language
which is causing the GRAVEACCENT keystroke to change between each setting.
If you find that the message being spoken as you navigate is always the same
then the GRAVEACCENT keystroke is wrong and Sibelius isn't recognising it.
From what you're saying, it sounds as though you have to have UK English set
as the input language.

The second problem is more serious and might be related to system
performance.

The stop plug-in dialog appears whenever any plug-ins are running. It is
there so that users can cancel a plug-in which is taking too long to run, or
if the plug-in has been badly written and there is no obvious way to get rid
of it.

I'm surprised that you're noticing it though. If JAWS is actually focusing
on it, then it must have been there for a long time. Well - long in
computing terms. The plug-in is not one which takes a long time to
complete. I tested it extensively to make sure that it would not slow
Sibelius down and that dialog should very rarely be spoken.

I'll need to check out a few things in the code before I can give you any
solid suggestions but there is something you could do to give me an idea of
how slowly the plug-in is running.

Press Alt+U to open the plug-in menu.
Go to the Access sub-menu (this should be the first menu item).
Choose the item called "Access" and press enter.

This will trigger the plug-in to run without passing the keystroke first.
Try it a few times and let me know what happens.
