I'm having a problem with how system text in scores is being placed in parts
I am creating for a recording session of my jazz compositions.
Frequently, but not always, I need the space above the staff for a row of
chord symbols. Sometimes when I write system text to be placed above the
staff, I am told by sighted people who come over to assist me that the words
might overlap with the chord symbols, or sometimes the rehearsal letters. So
far, this all makes sense to me. However, they say when they move system
text in the score left or right it does affect its placement in the parts,
but when they move system text up or down, it doesn't change the placement
of the text in the parts.
If we go into the part, they can move the text within the part to get it
placed right, but that doesn't affect the score, so we are adjusting things
in each individual part - not fun since I have up to 8 instruments per tune
and 14 tunes to prepare parts for.
Does any of this match other people's experience, or do I have something
wrong in the settings? I've got the usual Sib Access 5.25 and am using Jaws
14, and in general everything is working well.
