Re. slurs.
Sound feedback would be difficult to work out because this is not a simple
true or false situation. You would need different sounds to describe the
precise location of the note with in the slur and this would be quite
confusing. Also, I am against using sounds for information purposes in a
program which involves sounds as part of the document itself. In short, the
score itself is made up of sounds and those should be the only sounds heard.
Speech feedback is much better.
There is much better speech feedback for slurs and other lines in V6. The
position of the note with in any lines or slurs is spoken when you move to
it from anywhere in the score. So, it is no longer necessary to pass over
the start of the first note in the slur. The message will be something like
"C4, quarter note, 2 of 4 in slur, 25% of rit."

Well, actually my question was a bit more easier on the one hand and
harder on the other. I just wanted to discuss if sound indication for
the beginning and end of the slur when arrowing through the score
would be convenient for somebody except me and if it's possible to
include this option in the list of future accessibility improvements.
So that letter was more about possible future then about what we have now.

I’m assuming you’re talking about Sibelius 8.x. If so, you need to
know the
following:
1. Currently, NVDA is not capable of identifying the start and end of
a slur correctly when arrowing through a score. Similarly, it is not
possible to know whether there are articulations attached to a note in
a Sibelius 8.x score when you arrow through that score. Further, NVDA
does not read pitches correctly if the score is transposed. NVDA will
always read the concert pitch, even when the written pitch is
transposed. The only way the user can know whether a score is transposed
or not is to listen to what NVDA
says when going to the transposed button in the Home tab. Avid is
aware of all of these problems. There are plugins that can help one
deal with some of this. But it is really not an efficient solution
and I would not migrate to Sibelius 8 unless you have been forced to
move to Windows 10. In that case, it is not possible to use Sibelius
5.25 at all and you will have to make the best of things with Sibelius 8.5
and NVDA.
For those of you who have iPads, I strongly recommend Symphony Pro, an
iOS app whose developers have committed themselves to making the app
as accessible as possible. You can then use Music XML to migrate
files between Symphony Pro and Sibelius as desired while we wait for Avid
to resolve these
and other problems with Sibelius. Symphony Pro is made by Xenon Labs
and is available in the iTunes App Store.

is currently working with Avid on Sibelius accessibility. Is it
possible to try and push this idea at least in the long list of
things which should be done?
