Also, once you assigned the whole note to voice 2, CTRL left arrow to the
beginning of the bar.  You will then be in voice 1, where, I assume, there
will be no notes written yet.  Write the notes you want for voice 1 at that
point and you should be fine.

Are you pressing the letter N for November before you press alt and 2? Hope
