Kevin,

A small number of symbols do playback but they're definitely in the
minority. Segnos do playback and this is the method recommended in the
reference.

Dave,
don't have time to test this. But, based on the comment about
sharps not playing as sharps, I have every reason to suspect that segnos
won't work either. You could call Sibelius Tech support or write to them
and ask. You could also place a queery on the Sibelius forum. I encourage
everyone to do that with non blind related issues like this. It will
introduce more of us to the sighted Sibelius community and that sort of
introduction will be useful to those of us who need sighted editors/copyists
for larger projecs.
Best,
Kevin
