HI Kevin,
machine ID is for later Sibelius.
For Sibelius 5, it is called *Computer Number.*

I don't remember exact wording, but there should be an option to
activate through phone or offline.
Then it'll ask your name, address, and so on.
Toward the end, there's a read only field with number that starts with
c. That's your computer code.
Hope that helps.

Hello Chi,
Thank you. I thought there was something wrong with my copy. I'm using
Windows 7 on this machine. I'm trying to get everything sorted before
switching the Internet off on this computer. Sorry if this sounds like
a silly question but what do you mean by my computer code? What is it
and where on the computer do I find it?
Very best wishes,
Sandra.

Hi Sandra,
Unfortunately online activation stopped working on Sibelius 5 for a while.
You'll probably have to call Avid and give your serial number and
computer code to obtain activation code.
However, You mentioned that you have a fairly new computer. Sibelius
only works on Windows 7 or earlier. If your computer has newer Windows,
I would definitely sort that out first before activating Sibelius.

Thank you. I installed, put my serial number in and tried to register
it but it said it had trouble contacting Sibelius. I found my back-up
copy from 2012. Is that the prob?
Very best wishes,
Sandra.

Hi Sandra,
Download from the following link:
http://cdn.avid.com/Sibelius/5.2.5/Sibelius525English.exe
Don't forget the portaudio_x86.dll file. It is at
http://www.sibelius.com/download/software/win/portaudio_x86.zip
Note that the EXE file is not accessible, so it would be best to extract
it using a programme like 7-Zip. Afterwards you'll be able to navigate
through the folders and launch the accessible Sibelius installer,
Sibelius Essentials Sounds and so on.
HTH,
Alex

I have a farily new computer and, before I switch the Internet off,
I've been going over old emails to try and find the link to get
Sibelius5/6 software itself. Years ago, when I downgraded to 5, I had
to buy the then new 7 and supply proof of purchase. I still have it so
probably have the serial number but is there still a link toget the
old programming? I know there is no accessibility team anymore but
just wondered where to look.
Very best wishes,
Sandra.
