Hi Sandra,
Unfortunately online activation stopped working on Sibelius 5 for a while.
You'll probably have to call Avid and give your serial number and
computer code to obtain activation code.
However, You mentioned that you have a fairly new computer. Sibelius
only works on Windows 7 or earlier. If your computer has newer Windows,
I would definitely sort that out first before activating Sibelius.

Don't forget the portaudio_x86.dll file. It is at
http://www.sibelius.com/download/software/win/portaudio_x86.zip
Note that the EXE file is not accessible, so it would be best to extract
it using a programme like 7-Zip. Afterwards you'll be able to navigate
through the folders and launch the accessible Sibelius installer,
Sibelius Essentials Sounds and so on.
