Hello, all. In the past week, I downloaded and installed Sibelius 5.2.5 and
Sibelius Access. In my beginning exploration of Sibelius, I found that the
ideas window appears to be inaccessible. In fact, Sibelius Access seems to skip
over the ideas window entirely even when it is open. I was disappointed in this
because I was hoping to audition the built-in ideas to satisfy my curiosity and
to consider them in future compositions, which leads to an obvious question,
especially for Dan Rugman: Do you have any plans to make the ideas feature of
Sibelius 5.2.5 fully accessible in the future? I feel that this would be a very
useful feature to have full access to at times when a composer has a fragment
of music in his or her head that needs to be captured so that it is not lost.
Note that, as the ideas feature currently is, even if I am able to capture an
idea from a composition for later use, it appears that I won't be able to play
it without sighted assistance, let alone, possibly, edit it, copy it and paste
it into a score. In other words, I wonder if there is a way to script the ideas
feature so that a blind composer can use and work with it in the same way they
would work with a score, for example, by moving through the list of ideas using
the up and down arrow keys, pressing the space bar to play each one as it is
selected and using control+c and control+v to copy and paste into a score. The
same playback, note input and editing functions should be available via
keyboard as they are when working with entire scores. I would like to know if
any or all of this is possible. I don't know how to write JAWS scripts, but I
would be happy to offer input based simply on my experience as a blind computer
user. Thank you for considering my suggestion.
