Hmm I tend to write my words so the singer knows what beat to sing the silibal on. I don't divide it according to any dictionary. Like if I want them to alight the syllables for "is our" it would look like "I--sour" But then again, I have singers who are novices. Lol. -----Original Message----- From: sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Duke Sent: Tuesday, October 27, 2009 1:47 AM To: sib-access@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [sib-access] Re: Help with Lyrics Wrong, a syllable can indeed start with a vowel. As matter of fact, a vowel is what determines a syllable. The consonants that follow or precede should all appear. So, the word crossing should devide in the manner Kevin described. the root word is cross should appear all togather, and ing should appear sepparately. In Braille rules which have nothing to do yet with lyrics, the rule even applies more strictly. So, if you want to devide crossing at the end of a line, you would still have to cut it at ing. A word like crossing needs to be properly broken as cros-sing. You don't allow the ending syllable to start with a vowel. That's what I learned in 2nd grade. So, you would write them as cross-ing. -----Original Message----- From: sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Annabelle Susan Morison Sent: Tuesday, October 27, 2009 1:10 AM To: sib-access@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [sib-access] Re: Help with Lyrics And how would I divide "crossing"? As in, "I'm crossing you in style". -----Original Message----- From: sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Kevin Gibbs Sent: Monday, October 26, 2009 10:11 PM To: sib-access@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [sib-access] Re: Help with Lyrics You press the space bar twice and this draws a long line that shows the reader that the previous syllable extends to the next note. JaWS will tell you where you are in bars and beats. So, when JAWS tells you that you've come to bar 3, beat 1, you know it's time for the syllable, wid as in wider. -----Original Message----- From: sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Annabelle Susan Morison Sent: Monday, October 26, 2009 10:00 PM To: sib-access@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [sib-access] Help with Lyrics Hi, it's Annabelle. I'm making a lead sheet of "Moon River", and I want to include lyrics. However, the confusion sets in when I get to, for example "Moon ri-ver". Since the "ver" syllable is supposed to be sung on a note which ties to another note, how would I achieve this?
