Kevin,

Using the arrow keys or TAB and SHIFT+TAB moves across the current voice
only, so you'll only hear the notes in that voice.

Press ALT+SHIFT+UP ARROW or ALT+SHIFT+DOWN ARROW to move into the voice
above or below.

If there is only one voice, then JAWS will simply describe the selected item
again. I suppose I could put an announcement in like "no more voices", to
make it clear that there is no voice to move to. Opinions?

The problem with having a feature which reads out the pitches in all voices
within the current staff is that some dicisions would have to be made
regarding notes with different rhythms. For instance, if you selected the
second quarter in voice 1, and voice two had a whole note only, then should
the pitch of the whole note be spoken, even though it doesn't start at the
same point as the selected quarter note? Again, opinions?

Dan

Subject: [sib-access] Description of chords and voices

Guys,
When you have multiple voices in a staff, as near as I can tell,
arrowing to notes will only sound those notes in the particular voice you're
in. If you "play" the score, you'll hear all notes in all voices at the
instant in time. However, it seems like if you move to a point and only
hear, say, half the notes you expect, that means that you have to go to alt
shift down arrow to hear the notes in other voices at that instant. Is this
correct? Also, is there a means of hearing a stack of notes described with
all notes in all voices read top to bottom, for example?
Is there also a means using the playback feature to stop in the middle of
the score and then use a command that tells you where you are in the score
in bars and beats? If so, what is it?
Thanks,
Kevin
