Patricia,

There is a wonderful plug-in you can download from the Sibelius website to
handle hiding voice 2 rests. Don't be afraid to search that Sibelius
website. There are a lot of helpful things there for us, even though we're
using an older version of the program.

Subject: [sib-access] About writing slurs in Sibelius 5.25.

Hi all, I am writing arrangements for piano and strings and I have some
confusion with the different kinds of slurs there are, particularly slur
above and slur below (Shift plus S).
I understood that the use of above or below depends on how the stems go,
therefore I am using slur below on the left hand of the piano, hoping that
the slur would cover several measures and would be placed below voice 4 (the
piano part sometimes uses multiple voices).
However, according to a sighted musician who looked at it, the slurs appear
above the notes and not below as expected.
There are many slurs on the line menu (braketed, dotted, etc), but I don't
know when to use which.
Any place where I could read about that?
For string instruments, I understand one can have two slurs: one for bow
direction and one for expression. Is it so and which should I choose for
each case?

I also want to know how to deal with multiple voices more effectively,
particularly when we have many rests on inner voices.
Is there a plug in that hides the rests so as not to have to go through
every bar figuring it out?
Any recommendations for piano writing are wellcome!

Thanks,
Patricia Elena Vlieg
