Kevin,

In light of your warning in your last paragraph I am surprised
that you are suggesting an inductor in place of the ferrite bead.
Isn't it going to generate unwanted voltages?

Also, even if the 5T field is DC, any physical movement of the
electronics with respect to the magnetic field could be disastrous...

You can use an air-core inductor, you won't get the loss ferrite beads =
will provide,
but you will get some inductance.

Also, be very wary of "non-magnetic" components and materials, many are =
weakly ferromagnetic,
which is normally as good as truly non-magnetic, but with extreme fields =
(such as your 5T)
it just ain't the same.

Finally, if there is any AC component to that 5T field, every circuit =
loop will have pickup in
proportion to the projection of the cross-sectional area perpendicular =
to that field.  This
includes not just wiring, but also traces on boards.  If you have the =
design freedom to align
your boards perpendicular to the field direction, that is a good start.
