It really depends on how the timing is be specified or used. That is, what
measurement do you
expect or what measurement does your timing analysis expect?
Flight Time (I believe) as Intel defines it is the time from driver to
receiver point. The test load simulation comes in when you are correlating
this delay time to the CLK to Q or internal delay of the component (which is
usually specified driving a test load).
You only want to count the "driving the test load" once, thus the simulation
into a test load.
Note: This test load simulation is usually done just once and then reduced
to a synchronization delay number.

jon

Subject: [SI-LIST] flight time and propagation delay in Hspice

Hi, experts
one question regarding to flight time and propagation delay when using
Hspice simulation, In most GUI simulation tool such as candence
specctraquest, there's a test load as a reference to measure "flight time"
while in Hspice ,there's meas. syntax provied for us to measure propagation
delay, I wonder if this propagation delay is as same as the fligth time we
measure in GUI tools(specctraquest)???
or.. we still need to add test load circuit into Hspice netlist for simulate
the "flight time"??
anyone who please could enlighten me on this issue. thanks a lot!
