Sreekanth, The best way to do this is to refer to the voltage impulse tables in IEC 60664-1 and determine the impulse rating required for your 1kV working voltage. Then divide the V/mil rating into that number. Simply dividing the 1000 volts by the V/mil rating of the prepreg is risky at best because all electrical products experience voltage impulses unless on a battery supply. -doug -----Original Message----- From: si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Sreekanth N nampoothiri Sent: Thursday, September 07, 2006 10:54 PM To: si-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [SI-LIST] Voltage & Prepeg thickness Hi All, What could be the rule of thumb while designing a multilayer board with HighVoltage. For eg:- If I have 1KV in one layer, what could be the required minimum prepeg thickness to the next layer? And what could be the voltage & current carrying capacity of FR4 .
