I waited a few hours to see if anyone would jump in, but no one has, so here I go: I have the impression that SI is one of the few disciplines for which there are still jobs to be had, judging from the postings on this list. Maybe not as many as a year ago, and maybe not always in the right geographical location, but there still are some. But I suppose, being comfortably employed myself, and not in any apparent danger of being "downsized," I am perhaps not in touch with reality in quite the same way as someone who is on the streets looking. I do have friends in other lines of work who are looking (and have been for some time, in some cases) and from that I know it's not too pretty right now. But SI is, I think, less affected than other things.
