To paraphrase a recent post:

> Dear Madam/Sir, My name is S.I. Engineer I am a graduate student at
>University of Somewhere, in the department of Electrical and Computer
>Engineering, planning to graduate with M.S. in Computer Engineering in
>August2002. I am looking for a full time job opportunity.

Just a general comment to all of those in the SI community
who are currently looking for new positions. Please feel free
to utilize the si-list to make a short succinct plea with
a pointer to an e-mail address or web site for further info,
but as a general thing, the posting of a full resume' to the
list probably isn't the best way to go.
Si-list attempts to keep the signal-to-noise ratio high with
respect to the percentage of technical conversation relative
to non-technical content. While job hunting is an important
activity to many in today's economy, unfortunately it doesn't
contribute to a high SNR on the list.
So to reiterate, a short, succinct posting related to job
hunting is OK, a full blown resume is discouraged.
While on the subject, I'd also mention that postings by
head-hunter (recruiters) is definitely discouraged, but
postings by principals (hiring managers and working engineers)
looking to augment staff in their departments is acceptable.
Just keep the posting reasonable short and to the point and
refer those interested to alternate channels of communications
to follow up on your offer.
