Someone told me that and I don't know if it is true or not. Terry When I first moved to Germany in 1999, the Germans called the white shepherds, American/Canadian White Shepherds. Many of them were long haired and most had very shy soft temperaments. I knew quite a few that did agility & turnierhund. I never saw one that did Schutzhund. However, several years ago, the American/Canadian White Shepherd became the Swiss White Shepherd. The reason for the name change was because if the FCI were to recognize it as a separate breed, it needed to have a country of origin and be recognized BY the dog club in that country of origin.
