When a dog eats a squirrel the main worry is they can ingest the tapeworm eggs.
This holds true for rabbits too, 2 of my GSD's years got tapeworms by eating
a rabbit they shared in the backyard.

Subject: Squirrel Killin' Question
Had a friend call me just now; her 3 shelties killed a small, young
squirrel in their yard and brought it in the house "headless"she thinks they
ate
the head since they can't find it....all dogs are UTD on rabies, etc. and
she plans to take them to the vet tomorrow....one has a small cut on its lip
but it isn't bad. Is she OK until she talks to her vet tomorrow? I don't
want to give her bad info. Thanks so much :-)
