I too am in favor of shortening the National, even though it still isn't
long enough to catch up with all of the folks you might only get to see at
this grand event.

I think we need to look at the numerous events that are scheduled during the
day, and determine what value they truly add or provide to the membership.
Many of these events are appreciated, but if given the option of curtailing
or eliminating a few events in exchange for a day or two less at the
National, I think the fancy in general might exercise the minimization
(less is better) option. Many of these events are of a "recognition" for
some activity or accomplishment, which while important to the breed or the
club as a whole, usually has its impact on a more regional or personal
basis.

If we want to provide a public venue for recognizing certain contributions
or achievements, maybe we can take a more creative approach...such as an
evening activity, where participants can be recognized, video taped and the
"recognition" added to the National video. I would expect that few
"observers" would attend, but this goes to the point, that certain
"recognition" activities are most important to those on an individual or
regional level.

We could determine which events hold the most overall appeal to the
membership for inclusion within the scope of the daily judging by survey,
possibly included with the ballot (if our by-laws allow for this).

As a final note, given the limited number of entries, do we still need to
have "conditional" classes at the National? I ask this as a question since I
don't know the obligatory status of offering this class.

It is not my intent to come across as unappreciative of anyone's or any
group's accomplishments or contributions, but only to state that with so
many varied interests within the scope of the breed, we need to have Feature
Presentations during the day which have the broadest appeal to the fancy.

To all we say Be Well, Be Safe & May God continue to Bless - Happy New year
