There are both good and bad sides to this practice.
Good: save travel time and travel money
Less than good: If you are showing two dogs - you are working all day. Get one
ready, then the other, gulp lunch and start all over again.
The social aspect of dog shows, which to me is another of the reasons I go to
dog shows, is negligible as the other people there are on the same time
schedule. At the end of the day - everyone is too tired to visit.
Workers perspective: Juggle the show responsibilities, showing dogs, more show
responsibilities leaves the workers (at least me) pooped and not too anxious to
come back for a second day of the same.
Club view: saves money on park rentals. Sometimes you can leave the equipment
up. If the weather is good then you are truly blessed. Rain, heat, wind, cold
could make it so that only the truly dedicated stay to work and the end of day
2. The club who is on Sunday can have less entries as folks want to go home
and don't stay or don"t enter.
I am not sure that going in with an all breed is the solution, maybe one show
with an AB and one with another specialty would be easier. I seems that the
specialty judges who can also do other breeds will limit the judge pool. Just
my experiences and view after doing this for two years in a row.

My first experience with the two shows in one day (outdoors) came last weekend
in Oklahoma. In the morning, Carolyn Herbel gave WD to the 6-9 puppy dog. When
I judged at 2 PM for the Tulsa club, the puppy was exhausted and did not show
well. So my conclusion is that two shows in the same day in a warm weather
site can be hard on the animals. I am not worried about the handlers as they
have the choice to show or not to show. Now, my experience with two shows in
one day inside in the air conditioned atmosphere is totally different. The
first show was an all breed and the specialty was after BIS. This gave the
dogs a long time to adapt to the conditions and recover from the first show. I
think there are good and bad things associated with the two show concept just
as there are in all of our lives. The clubs need to do what is best for
