Fred seems to leave many of us with some interesting or profound memories.
In discussing the loose lead at some point and what a judge wants, I recall a
Canadian National several years back that Fred judged intersex. He had 2
of the most beautiful bitches under him in specials. One being Angel
(Fettucini), the other a bitch from Quebec with a french speaking basically no
name
handler when it came to specialties. I cannot count how many times Fred had
this young man take the bitch around, asking for a loose lead, and off he
would go racing around the ring at break neck speed. Then he realized he had
a
language problem, and the crowd took the plight on, helping to explain to
the handler that a loose lead was required. This was not a calm man, and he
kept going like a bat with this bitch. I recall watching Fred drop his
heading shaking it from side to side out of pure frustration......the
heartbreak of
being a judge and not seeing such a quality dog move as you want to see them.
She ended up 2nd select, Fettucini becoming GVX, shown to perfection by
Scott. Was a hard act to beat....
That year in Perry under Roz Schaeffer, that same bitch was shown in open
with a different handler, Morris Bartucci. Roz got what she wanted to see and
for the rest of us watching, it was a "goose bump" moment. The bitch took
WB and select......
For those of you that were there I am sure you will remember her....her name
was Dynamics B Nadiana, and watching her in motion was a study in structure
and breed type.
And just for old time memories, that was same national in Canada that a hot
young bitch took BP....that was Guido, Castlehills Cuz I Wanna. Gail will
recall vividly my calling her very "structurally deserving", but the attitude
 - well that is a whole different story. She repeated the outstanding
performance at the US national also, and again got BP.
