We have gophers here. They must be smarter than moles. They never breech that
fence into the yard where the dogs run. But, they sure have fun digging
tunnels ad holes on the parkway. And, really hard to trap. Darned things.

Never saw moles until I moved to Florida. They make tracks under the grass
and my dogs will dig holes all over the yard looking for them.
