[ SHOWGSD-L ] breed restrictions

I opened my paper this morning to find a long article calling for
restriction of breeding. The part that was most disturbing was the article
citing
support from the president of the Silver State Kennel Club. He said
professional
breeders have no problem with breeding restrictions. '"We only breed to
better the breed and because we want something to put in the show ring," said
Connel, who breeds Akita and Shiba dogs.' It will be hard to fight an
ordinance in Clark County with a breeder having this stance. The Animal
Foundation
president, supporting the bill, defined genuine breeders as those who will
breed a dog once or twice in the animal's lifetime and advetise only in trade
magazines.
