I don't agree. Faults of movement, in our standard, (remember that, it was
written in many of the catalogs) remains a major fault. Lack of movement is a
fault too. In order to avoid a major fault, a German shepherd must move
correctly. Anything less is not acceptable.
That does not mean that you give up other things, but first and foremost,
our breed must move correctly. If you don't have German shepherd movement, it
might as well be another breed. Type can always be corrected, but movement is
hard to get. There are so many factors and that is why a great dog is
always, and always has been rare. That is how it should be in anything, and it
always will be so.
You do not have to give up type to get movement, and you don't have to give
up movement to get type. But, to claim a dog that moves less than correctly
should win on type, ignores the purpose of our breed, to work and herd sheep.
We can get thousands of dogs that look alike, and appear to be German
shepherds. But, if they can't move, you might as well just put a picture on
your
windshield and drive to the show, and then go back home.
And, if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, make a pretty woman
your wife. But, from my personal point of view.................. get the
other kind to marry you.
