[ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: Who do we think we are?

As a citizen of a Capitalistic Democratic Republic, I am amazed when my fellow
Americans criticize successful businesses!! Has the AKC requested a
Government Bail-Out? Did Obama pass a Forced-Registration of Pure-Bred Dogs
Act? Are we free to "shop AKC" or not? Do they not pay taxes and employ
workers who pay taxes? Are they part of our huge unemployment problem? With
all the horrible things going on, financially and economically, in this Country
and in this World, the AKC is, perhaps, a model of success. If they fail, so
what? Wall Street won't crash; our taxes won't be given to them, cancer won't
be cured, and the Academy Awards will still be broadcast next year. The
average American will not shed any tears for them. If they succeed, we
continue to have FUN playing with our dogs!!!

We have a choice of whether to support this particular business, or not. I
have participated in IABCA registry and shows. They are pitiful compared to
the AKC. The AKC does not have to be nagged into sending us our awards; we do
not have to submit paperwork, and more fees for certificates, to them over and
over to prove our achievements. Even our own GSDCA could, perhaps, access
their public records for our members, rather than have us keep sending them the
same proof that they, themselves, already have and publish in the Review.

If you don't like the AKC, the UKC is a highly reputable and respected
registry. Use them. They recognize our breed and our breed's AKC records.

I bought my first AKC dog in the 1950's. I have never had a bad experience
with them. I wish all businesses and all clubs operated like them.

In the USA, profit is NOT a cuss-word. How others spend their money, whether
for travel or "Other Compensation" items, is really none of our business. I do
get a bit incensed when someone tells me, unsolicited, what they believe I
"should" or "should not" do, I empathize with other entities when they are
attacked unjustly and unasked for. Some people just need to tell others what
to do or not do!

Maybe we could get some of these successful and well-paid execs to go save
Detroit or Wall Street??? Just a thought. :-) :-)

This is copied from another list....this is where your entry fees go to.

For this kind of money, AKC can afford to listen to what I have to say.
tax returns from AKC for years 2008, 2007 and 2006. I hope all of you have had
the time
to open these up and take a look. But, just in case you have not...I was
shocked to see the salaries from the
year 2008.
This is for a 38 hour week...as stated on the return. The first figure is
