s a member of the GSDCA AND the Atlanta Obedience Club I have an obligation to
xpress my opinion to BOTH clubs who, in turn and after polling all their
espective members should DIRECT their DELEGATE on issues of importance to US,
heir respective memberships. The AKC is not some organization sitting on a
illtop demanding that we all bow and scrape UNLESS we allow it. It is a club
f clubs [and 'clubs' are the membership!!!!!]
AKC is funded through registrations and dog shows. Shows are run by mostly
olunteer MEMBERS of those clubs. We register the pups. We pay the entry
ees. WE earn the money to support the AKC.
The AKC has become a personal playground for a few who vote themselves huge
alaries, travel expences, and perks from the money earned thorugh registrations
nd dog shows. In this current economy when those of us lucky enough to still
e working or have a decent retirement and a roof over our heads are rescuing
housands of PUREBRED dogs abandoned or surrendered to shelters by owners who
ave no other choice, they are travelling on OUR money to Crufts, CHina, and
here else? They are storing a multi million dollar art gallery and library
hich noone can see. EVERYONE is cutting back to survive and they vote in pay
ncreases and golden umbrella pensions and spend over TWO MILLION in travel in
ne year??? One person in a nonprofit funded by the fancy making over half a
illion dollars a year?????
THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT!!!!!

But, we chose to breed and register AKC animals. We chose to show at AKC shows,

If the AKC is making a bad decision, with the fees for judges, for raising the
xpenses for registration, requiring clubs to have more matches or anything
lse, they will go out of business.
We have no right to tell them how to run their organization. Unlike the GSDCA,
here we are the club, we are not the AKC.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
