Further from the rules:

D. Situations that require you to excuse a dog entered under you.
    1. A dog you or a member of your family has owned, co-owned, sold,
boarded, etc. within one year (In Guidelines, with the excusal requirement
added, but also in Chapter 11, Section 13).
    2. A person who has handled for you within four months prior to the
show date (In Guidelines also elsewhere with the excusal requirement added in
the "CONFLICT OF INTEREST" section).
    3. A person with whom you have a business relationship (In
Guidelines).
Now, Joan, since you have put this out there, and Linda, since you bring it
up below, but actually "skirt" #3 above, and since you've both made it all
quite public, is it true that the AKC has entry forms for a show that
closed prior to the F/M that were submitted/signed or e-signed by Joan (BEFORE
the Futurity/Maturity in question) for a bitch of Joan's that Jeff was to
show AFTER the F/M????

Because if that was the case, then Joan would have had a "business
relationship" prior to the F/M, Jeff would have been unable to show to Joan and

the subsequent actions taken by the GSDCA were indeed correct.

I don't think anybody ever questioned (or at least I didn't) that Joan was
sanctioned by the AKC, but that seems to be the point of rebuttal.

Anyway, it's a moot point. Anyone can look at the back of the Gazette and
see that's not the case.

The question is whether the parent club sanctions were just and IF Jeff
was contracted and/or entries were made before the F/M, then they were just.

The scuttlebutt is that the AKC has such entry forms, and again, rather
that go round and round about an AKC sanction that wasn't in questions, maybe
either of you could clear that up.

The 4-month rule may have only recently been added to the GSDCA judging
guidlines, but as of 01/08/2004, this rule was in effect with the AKC. The
GSDCA Futurities/Maturities are AKC *sanctioned* matches. Therefore, the
judge of an AKC sanctioned match is required to follow *AKC* rules and
guidlines in effect at the time the match took place.

Here's the AKC link where you will find the 4-month rule stated clearly
and concisely:
http://www.akc.org/about/conflict/exhibitB.cfm

Look under section III. Ineligible Dogs and you will see the following:

"2. If a judge uses an agent, the agent is not to exhibit dogs under the
judge for at least four months after working for you. This policy applies
for breed competition, but it is recommended to avoid at all levels (Policy
- Guidelines)."

Your right Sally, there was never a rule until recently that said
"4-months after he showed to you"

Peg

Just for clarification at the time

the 4-month rule stated: A Handler cannot show under a judge for 4 months
AFTER he handles for that Judge
