Yes Theresa - you are absolutely correct - one of the greatest sources for
information about Lee Duncan and Rin Tin Tin through 1950 is The Rin Tin Tin
Story written by James English from interviews with Lee Duncan directly.

The book that I found to be very factual on the first Rin Tin Tin was The
Rin Tin Tin Story by James English written back in 1946. It is a very
costly book since it is rare and hard to find for under $100. I bought it
several years ago and use it for reference many times. It is mostly is
about Lee Duncan starting out as a young boy finding the first Rin Tin Tin
continuing his story of the Rin Tin Tin's.
