Thank you for researching and using factual data to post this Sheri. At
the end of the day if I were to judge a futurity, even if it were a
futurity region that I may have went to, any dogs that I would have shown
in that region I would just show in a different region that year. So,
again - handlers judging futurities does not decrease entries, certainly
not overall.

I think the handlers would "wish" they had dogs to show in each class ! I
just went through the SW futurity/maturity results and Scott showed a total
of 4 dogs in the whole futurity/maturity. I know that my puppy was the
only male he showed in the futurity. So no they really aren't taking away
that much of an entry Angela. And like Scott said he hasn't been to the NE
in a long time. To me they would be better off trying to find out why so
many people enter and then do not show at the futurities than punish a
single group of people (handlers) who probably know the standard as well as
any breeder! How about trying to make the Futurity a show that people want
to participate in?

The obvious reason why it reduces entries is because you take a
professional handler out of commission to take clients and their dogs...AND
if these professionals have helper handlers it reduces it even more!!
Because they can't show under their boss who is judging! So realistically
you are losing AT LEAST one dog/bitch in each age class! Maybe more!!
