I think the handlers would "wish" they had dogs to show in each class ! I just
went through the SW futurity/maturity results and Scott showed a total of 4
dogs in the whole futurity/maturity. I know that my puppy was the only male he
showed in the futurity. So no they really aren't taking away that much of an
entry Angela. And like Scott said he hasn't been to the NE in a long time. To
me they would be better off trying to find out why so many people enter and
then do not show at the futurities than punish a single group of people
(handlers) who probably know the standard as well as any breeder! How about
trying to make the Futurity a show that people want to participate in?

The obvious reason why it reduces entries is because you take a professional
handler out of commission to take clients and their dogs...AND if these
professionals have helper handlers it reduces
it even more!! Because they can't show under their boss who is judging! So
realistically you are losing AT LEAST one dog/bitch in each age class! Maybe
more!! Angela

With all due respect Zoe, I disagree. Handlers judging futurities outside of
their area is NOT going to have an impact on entries. If the rationale is to
reduce expenses to the GSDCA, then we are still chasing smoke and mirrors.

Wonder why handlers can no longer Judge Futurities after 2017?

Handlers juding a f/m reduces the entry at that futurity
It actually brings down entries and revenue for the system. It was an
experiment that failed.
Also having a breeder judge in their own area brings down entries - they need
to judge where they
do not breed and sell their puppies to increase entries. Clubs need to think
of this when
they select their judges.
It is almost impossible to fly a dog anywhere these days. Airlines change
the plane sizes daily.
I dan take the same flight on Friday one week and Friday the next week and
have a totally
different sized plane.
Your Board is trying to find a west coast site that is affordable - works
for the club.
Gail is working her butt off and these negative comments are not helpful. She
will be taking a crate
to Reno. Thank you Gail for your hard work. Very few people wotrk as hard
as she does.
NO SITE is going to be perfect for everyone.
And sites are still available for 2017 and are being researched
Please be patient
This is my personal opinion and not the opinion of the Board which comes from
Lana.
