[ SHOWGSD-L ] Saturday's Match

Saturday was a BEAUTIFUL DAY for a Match in San Antonio, TX - So we had one
The sun was shinning, not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature was a
respectable 65 degrees.
Sam Israel had flown in from California to do the honors of judging. He
did a great job, and has a good eye for movement. So anyone looking for a
match judge, give him a call.
We had 21 dogs shown. I sort missed the end, but BOB was a Samaria
daughter brought over from Houston by owners Don & Elizabeth Knight. I missed
who
was BOS, (maybe her brother)
The two best puppies were brother & sister : sired by Ch. Crosstiimer's
Cargho out of Ch Scharo/Ark Too Hot to Trot, bred by Mary Tripp and owned by
her and Mary Golden.
Most of the dogs were shown by Junior Handlers: Trevor Golden, Mason
Golden, & Brianna Golden and first time in the ring Kevin Weston. (Good thing
the kids came, most of the owners were not up to running)
And first time in the ring: in Juniors, taking a lap with a puppy, were
Conner Moore- Quarles - age 5 and Lindsay Moore-Quarles age 4. They were
each thrilled with a blue ribbon.
We had advertised the match in the pets column of the newspaper and had
several newcomers show up with their puppies. How cool is that?
Afterwards all enjoy a pot luck picnic. Our Lovely Yellow Rose of Texas,
Rose Christina brought a 10 lb. sliced baked ham, with the trimmings for
ham sandwiches. Cathy Moore brought her famous potato salad. Kevin's mom,
Ariana, brought Brownies and Dragon Snot, ( Ariana also went in the ring for
the first time showing her dog and had a great time ) . I baked a
pineapple upside-down cake & valentine triple chocolate brownies and did not
try to go in the ring, although Bob showed in the winners class.
The best part of the day was watching the youngsters Sam Colvin's
grandson, John ( age 4) was there, and his girlfriend (age 5) . This younger
generation had a grand time enjoying the dogs and each other.
Hope more will come and join us next Feb.
