As a participant in a four show/two day weekend, I can tell you it's a lot less
work
than doing those four shows over two different weekends. One set up and one
take down
for four shows. Yes, you do have to have a show site that allows you to stay
overnight
with the motor homes. We have now found two very nice sites locally that allow
us
to do this.
Sacramento and Reno do four conformation shows and two obedience/rally trials in
two days. (Reno does not do obedience.) It is even less work than it used to
be years
ago when we had two shows on a weekend, but had four conformation judges and
two obedience judges. Yes, back when it took two conformation judges to do a
single show because of the number of entries.
We also have Norwegian Elkhounds. This year all the Elkhound clubs in
California (all 3
of them) got together in Bakersfield with three specialties and a sweepstakes
on the two
days prior to the two Sun Maid KC shows. They pulled 5 point majors for all 5
shows.
The Elkhounds had the largest entry of any breed at the KC show. All this from
a breed
that only takes 5 dogs for a 3 point major.

FOUR SHOWS & TWO SPECIALTIES sounds great to the exhibitor...........but
what about the people who are putting them on? The same people will have to
do all 4 shows.
Specialty clubs are folding because fewer new people are entering dog
shows and the current members are aging. Find me the box, please!
