RMSF is a rickettsial infection caused by a bacteria carried by a tick.

It is the most common and most lethal tick-borne disease in humans and dogs.

It is often treated with several antibiotics and pregnisone

It can cause thrombocytopenia - decreased platelets, failure to make plateletes
of the body
destroying them (auto immune or idiopathic thrombocytopenia puroura)
It can resolve when the underlying cause is "removed". If it is bad enough, a
transfusion is done.
