After much research I see a very good reason for the white GSD to have their own breed with AKC. Years ago the same White Shepherd Dog breeders requested UKC to accept the White Shepherd Dog as a separate breed and they did. Since then "FCI recognition of White Shepherds as " Berger Blanc Suisse" http://www.weisse-schaeferhunde.de/ Translated... http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&slÞ&u=http://www.weisse-schaeferhunde.de/&ei=ziJRT_3UJeqniQK1xPSrDg&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=1&ved CUQ7gEwAA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.weisse-schaeferhunde.de/%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox%26rlz%3D1I7GPEA_enUS311%26prmd%3Dimvns If you go read and read the above Breed Standard, the White Shepherd breeders in America who have followed, have bred white dog to white dog registering in the UKC as a White Shepherd for several years. Since Germany accepted this as did the other Euro countries why not the GSDCA. I would thinkseparated be better for the GSD to seperate from the white GSD for them to form their new breed for the white GSD. All it should take is for the GSDCA heads to approve and write a letter to FCI and AKC that they did agree. After much researching I find separationrs and owners that oppose the seperation are the German Shepherd breeders that breed off-color and white GSD's or GSD breeders that intermix white GSD's with the Breed Standard GSD. For the true breeders of the White Shepherd AKC like the UKC did, should make it possible for them to be able to import-export their dogs to have the possiblity to continue to breed their White Shepherd without having to inbred or linebred their dogs. As far as fading colors Axel-Troll, etc. produced puppies and carried for generation and still do that trait. So that had nothing to due with changing the Breed Standard but Germany did. I am still researching answers but so far only find the following Germany's decision. As far as DNA all that can tell you is the dogs color and parentage as of right now there is no way to know of the certainty of breed. Theresa On Fri, 3/2/12, Erika A. It was in the 1960's that we, (GSDCA), followed this allegation by DQ White GSD's. Yes, other issues such as White would blend in with sheep was claimed. (Grrr....Not all sheep are white....) Someone disagreed with my original post.....claiming Whites were not DQ'd for lack of knowledge. That they, the GSDCA, knew that White was not associated with health problems. And, that the White GSD was DQ'd by the majority vote of the membership because that is the way the members wanted it. It sure would be nice to know WHY they wanted it..... what was the reason for the GSDCA to DQ the White GSD? ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2011.
