AS a young boy, we used to gather around the radio in
the evening and listen to the dramas before going to
bed. I loved the Lone Ranger, the Cisco Kid, Sky King,
Amos and Andy and a host of others. But they are gone,
and I mourned their passing. But times change.
Technology has given us the best of things and the
worst of things, but it passes relentlessly onward
without a care for our personal feelings or disdain for
its unfortunate side. How can we bring back my heroes?
No, they are gone.
So also with email lists. It seems like yesterday that
I joined this list and defended it against its critics.
Remember? They wanted to shut us down. But we resisted
and we won. And I remember one of our chief critics
finally joined us, to everyone's amazement.
Now, we few old diehards hold on, while most of our
list friends have left us for Facebook, Twitter and
other more modern media. Shall we join them, or. Nah! I
would still listen to the Lone Ranger, given the
opportunity. I loved the pictures in my imagination
better that the ones that followed on TV.
