Therein is my problem. When we get a dog with DM tested markers from two
parents who tested clear, what do we do? I have heard it is not possible,
but I remember that from clear hips in the past.
I also remember a friend of mine who when elbow x-rays came out, tested all
her bitches. They all tested with bad elbows and she put them all down.
Within two years she was out of the breed.
Assume just for the sake of discussion that Gotti, Ben and Mephisto had the
markers for DM. Should all of the progeny be put down? I guess that is
a personal opinion and can't be answered.
As the breeder and owner of Big Ben, I guess I can ask that question. I
do not have the answer. A good friend of mine, Liz, said it is just a factor
to use in breeding. I tend to think she is right.
